Stylish Blogger Award

Pollen is not the only thing in the air around here these days. LOVE is swirling! Kiianah over at the oh so stylish natural hair blog, Rockin' it Napptural, awarded me this Stylish Blogger Award. Yay me! If you aren't following Miss Kiianah, you need to be! You don't have to be natural to benefit from all of the useful information that Kiianah provides about healthy hair and healthy hair care products. And, who doesn't love to look at beautiful hairstyles! Thanks a bunch for sharing your shine with little ole me :)

You know how it works. You can't receive props without giving some, so here are the rules for this award.

To accept the award, you must:
  • Thank and link back to the person who awarded you this award
  • Share 7 things about yourself
  • Award 15 recently discovered great bloggers
  • Contact these bloggers and tell them about the award

7 Things About Me (is there anything you still don't know?!?)

  1. I love cowrie shells! Every chance I get, I'm buying an accessory made with them.
  2. I think I may have been a child of the 70s in my former life. There is nothing like Disco!
  3. I still haven't figured out what I wanna be when I grow up.
  4. I got my first and only tattoo when I was 16 years old.
  5. Sunflowers are my favorite.
  6. I'm addicted to hairstyle magazines.
  7. I would love to have one more baby.

Self Preservation: Reconnecting

Samsung Vibrant

It was just a matter of time before it had to happen. I just could not possibly go on, in this day and age, flipping a SideKick around. Today, having a SideKick is kind of equivalent to having a Nokia! Its one of those phones that used to be hot, but has now simply seen its days. There is only so much that it can still do in this world of apps. Its been great to me over the years, but as I navigate spaces that are poorly connected, and encounter places beyond my reach, its clear that the SideKick and I have outgrown each other. Enter: Samsung Vibrant. Its a DROID and it surely does kick my old Kick's ass. That whole not being able to blog on the spot because of the weak wifi signal problem I was having? Solved. I can now blog on the go with my Blogger app. No more hustling to print out directions before taking a trip, I can just use my Maps app to get the directions that I need. And it comes with the movie Avatar preloaded, which works when you have a bored kid in the backseat. Compared to what I was working with, this phone rocks, and makes life on the go a bit more convenient.

All a part of my journey toward self preservation. At the end of the day, a business woman needs a business phone. That is what I say to myself when I start rethinking whether I should have made the investment, which really wasn't that big of an investment thanks to smart shopping.

Have you gotten any new toys for yourself lately?

Confessions of a Connectoholic

Our new place is great and all, but the lack of wireless accessibility is driving me insane! I've been recently spoiled. Being able to sit up, 'til the wee hours of the morning, typing away the day's frustrations/joyful moments. And now? I'm reduced to a computer center where I have to work across two different computers because one has a timer and Facebook access has been blocked from the other! WiFi is available, but my location within the building makes for a shitty signal. How on earth am I supposed to stay on top of things working under these conditions? Geez.

I've missed spilling my guts on a daily basis. Just basically being able to say what I have to say virtually at the exact moment that it pops into my head. You know, the exact moment when I wanna go to bed and my housemate is blasting her damn radio through the floor, or when we are trying to have a nice dinner or breakfast and this one staff person feels the need to run down every single thing about the organization to us, as if its our first time in the dining area, oh, and how about the moment when said staff person comes back with a second bowl of pasta because she noticed that I had finished mine? She really does mean well, but uh, I seriously think that nobody is home upstairs, if you know what I mean.

Anyhoo... if you're reading now, don't stop here. I've been waiting to unload my chest, so this is like, the third post I've done in an hour, lol. Happy reading.

Writing From the Heart

Newness is forthcoming.

The wonderful designer behind the blog Adori Graphics offers free makeovers to folks who are writing for therapy. I put in an order and my time to be re-designed has finally rolled around. I've seen some proofs and I am in love. I'm looking forward to unveiling the finished design soon.
