Make It Work!

Project #1: Making my new kitchen work for me

What do you do when you don't have enough kitchen cabinets, or counter space, or a storage closet!?! You have to build from the ground up. I have a ridiculous amount of boxes marked KITCHEN, and a ridiculously limited amount of space in which to empty those boxes. Dinnerware from lives past, pots and pans, electrical this and that, TUPPERWARE! There just isn't room for it all. I came up with a solution for a fair number of cookware. An additional kitchen cart, to the microwave cart that I already had. I was storing my skillets and pots on this little thing. It was never going to work. I spotted this 5 shelf kitchen cart on Walmart's website and thought that it could get the job done. So far, mission accomplished. No more boxes of cookware! Dinnerware is a completely different story for a completely different post.

Have you added any new space savers to your home lately?

  1. It's always nice when we get things out of boxes and more accessible. I really like how the blue in your cookware pops against the silver steel. Cute blog.

  2. I really have to find a more functional way or organizing my closet. I can't ever find what I'm looking for! This shelf looks like a great idea for the kitchen, I could definitely use that big silver rotisserie style pot!!!

  3. @ Lynn: Yes it is! I'm getting tired of looking at cardboard, lol. And it doesn't seem like there are that many, just finding where to store everything in a small space is what's turning out to be the challenge. I'm getting there though. One area at a time I guess. Thanks for stopping by.

  4. @ Kiianah: At our old place, I had so many things hanging in the closet that my bar almost broke, LOL. Maybe you can take a weekend and remove everything so that you can see exactly what you have. Then group it (bags, shoes, work clothes, non-work clothes, etc). Get you some cute baskets to store your purses/accessories at the top of your closet, or some plastic draws. Also plastic shoe boxes for dressier stuff!

I'm still working on my closet, but I've decided to do some color coordination. I'm hanging work clothes on black hangers, and other clothes on a different color. The two sets are separated by a spinning belt hanger that I bought from Avon a while back.

  5. Oh, and girl, do you know I have yet to use that rotisserie, lol. My grandma gave it to me, along with a BUNCH of other stuff (dinnerware, tupperware). Now that you know I have it, I guess I'll have to stop running from turkey-cooking huh? LOL
